It’s a feature of MEB Design’s work for us that great care has been taken to keep so much of what was familiar and dear to us. The old gate posts from the original Fairacres stand beside the new electronic entrance from the drive. The grassed quadrangle with glazed walkways is new; in one quadrant the old sundial still stands, and there is a pool in the middle which draws the eye not with a fountain but a slight ruffling of the water. We have a small courtyard between the west end of Chapel and the cloister link, keeping the view of the crucifix and creating a quiet place to sit.
